Producer´s statement
“It’s shocking having to witness, that in the 21st century barbed wire fences are constructed along borders in Europe,” says the producer and screenwriter Robert Hofferer. He developed the feature film “The Final Barrier” as an artistic response, in tradition of the neo-realist films combined with the direct cinema style. A parable - which relates to the helping as well as the one’s seeking help - on the moral and ethical principles of society, the beacon of refugee issues and the struggle to find effective solutions. One insight is: The democratic humanism of modern Europe will only open to those permanently, who are willing to fully leave behind mindsets and lifestyles which are not compatible with European values.
